Decorex 2017, London – Luxury Interior Design Exhibition

Decorex International is one of the most prestigious exhibitions in the interior design industry in the UK, showcasing luxury products from around the world.  In September this year was the event’s 40th edition and it was back at the Syon Park in London.  This is my 3rd visit and every year there is always something new.

This year’s main entrance displays were of high standard, curated by Tim Gosling, a renowned British designer.  One of the displays is the dining set surrounded by hundreds of flowers in collaboration with a critically acclaimed London florist, Larry Walshe and Surrey’s antique restorer Dominic Schuster.

I took photos of 10 exhibitors’ products to share here.

These beautiful glass pendant lights are made in Britain by an English designer who has a first class degree in Decorative Art.  According to her website, her first showroom was a caravan parked at their family drive.  Now she has a showroom in Chelsea, London.

And these are oversize chandeliers made in Italy.  The lighting collections of iDogi Group can be found in five-star hotels and grand residences around the world.  They also make luxury handmade tables.

These beautifully crafted basins are from Glass Design S.R.L. of Italy.

A tall yarn spinner adorned the stand of Front London.  Front London exclusively presents high-end rugs and carpets of rug designers Jan Kath  and two other designers.  Their work are sought-after by discerning clients around the world.  Their showroom can be found at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour or DCCH  in London.  DCCH is a known destination of interior designers and architects.

These flocks of colorful sheep are chairs.  The family owners said that initially their collections were designed with country hotels in mind.  They realized later on that the products also caught the interests of private customers.  The also design custom-made ones, like ponies, camels and other animals.

These are oriental looking products from designers and wholesalers,  Objet Luxe.  They said some of their products are made in the Philippines.  Cebu City in the Philippines are big exporters decorative products and other home and garden furniture.  If you want to see these companies, they usually exhibit at the Manila FAME, an event attended by about 400 local manufacturers of home accessories and furniture.  Manila FAME is usually held at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines.

These leather vases are the work of designer, Simon Hasan.  He is a nice and down-to-earth person and easy to talk to.  He was at the stand himself proudly presenting and explaining his work.  He is a graduate from the Royal College of Art (2008).  His collection includes leather mannequins for Fendi, which won a Wallpaper* Design Award 2012.  In 2013 the UK Craft Council acquired Simon’s Fendi mannequin for their permanent collection.  More of Simon here.

Decorex ran simultaneously with Focus/17,  the London Design Festival held at the Design Centre Chelsea Harbour.  From the Decorex venue there were complimentary buses that serviced the visitors to and from DCCH.   Focus17 was a more intimate encounter with the manufacturers/suppliers in a quieter environment.
